How do you choose?

Among Polish parents living abroad, the question often arises – how to choose the right Polish school for my child? It’s not an easy decision, which will undoubtedly impact the further development of the child.

Initially

it’s worthwhile to sit down and think about what your expectations are for a Polish institution. Is it primarily about deepening the child’s knowledge of the native language, or is it equally important for you that they learn about traditions, history, and Polish culture? Perhaps you dream of a school offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities – artistic, sports, or others that develop interests? These thoughts will help define the direction of your search.

The next step is to research the schools in the area. It’s good to talk with friends and extended family, exchange opinions about the institutions. Check what is said about the chosen schools on social media, on parent forums. Look for information about the teaching staff, curricula, and organisation of classes.

Choice

When you narrow down your choice to a few institutions, be sure to visit them in person. See the classrooms, talk to the management and teachers. Pay attention to the atmosphere – whether it is friendly and whether children willingly participate in the classes.

Also, check the qualifications of the teachers. The more qualified and experienced the staff, the better for your child’s development. Analyse the curriculum – whether it meets their needs, how often classes take place. Is it modern? Innovative?

Finally

Consider the size of the school and classes. Smaller groups mean better contact with the teacher and a more individual approach to each child.

A wise, considered choice of Polish school is key to your child’s education success. Good luck!
